The Abyss

The Abyss is a location in OMORI. It is an optional area exclusive to the Hikikomori Route that can be accessed after saving Basil in the Hikikomori Route and talking to the Hitchhiker.

Overview

The Abyss is comprised of seven levels, each structured in maze-like patterns and connected by ladders. As the player travels further, enemies are swapped out several Something variants. Additionally, in the sixth level, multiple skeletons can be found that are assumed to be previous incarnations of the main group, excluding Omori.

In the seventh level, the player can find Abbi, who immediately engages in combat.
If the player defeats her, they can choose to accept her gifts scattered around Headspace. They can also proceed to the right edge of the screen, where they are teleported to the Weathervane Area in Black Space 2.

Story

Before the creation of Headspace, there existed three great creatures: the oldest, the wisest, and the favorite. The wisest, believed to be Abbi, presumably attempted to tell the dreamer the truth, and was subsequently stripped of her wisdom and banished to the bottom of The Abyss. As a result, she begs for Omori's forgiveness once defeated.

The Abyss is widely considered the border between Headspace and Black Space, due to its provided means of access to both.

Trivia

• The Abyss may not be revisited if the player decided to kill Abbi.
