While Jumpscares do not appear particularly often in OMORI, an index is nonetheless necessary so players who are sensitive to such content can avoid them.

As a quick rule of thumb, many jumpscares can be avoided by not checking mirrors while playing as Sunny in reality, and not checking mirrors in Headspace after reaching the Last Resort.

Mandatory Events

  • In the section directly before entering Black Space, the player will go through three or four maps before encountering a map with a coffin. Getting too close to the coffin will cause the character inside to morph into Hellmari and grab the player. A large image of Hellmari will glitch on the screen for a moment while a creepy audio plays.
  • In the game's prologue, the events after Basil drops his photo lead up to a mild jumpscare while inside his house. Basil's dialogue portrait will look agitated, and directly after that, a glitching photo of a violin will appear on the screen for a moment with creepy audio.

Optional Events

  • In the Boss Rush (specifically within console exclusive content), the final fight with Basil in the party has a jumpscare at the end in which the enemy being fought will fly towards the screen and then abruptly disappear.
  • In the Town Area in Black Space, interacting with a house around 4 rows down that is indiscernible from others will cause a small image of Hellmari in her mannequin form to flash abruptly on the screen along with a creepy sound effect.
  • In the game's prologue, answering the door for Mari at the player's house will show an image of Hellmari passing behind a door that is slightly ajar. When the picture stops scrolling, the full image will flash on the screen for a moment.
