The Punishment Area

The Punishment Area, internally known as "Cat Dissection", is a room in Black Space. It is always the sixth room Omori will visit.

Overview

This disconcerting room's most notable feature is an autopsy table. Mewo is strapped to the table, and a Butler watches over her, claiming that Mewo requires punishment for "being very, very bad." If Omori talks to the Butler, he will give him a key; this will also enable the menu, allowing Omori to stab himself.

Interacting with Mewo on the autopsy table will give the player the option to "cut open" Mewo. Repeatedly choosing 'yes' will slowly result in Mewo growing more panicked over Omori's intentions, until he eventually slices her open, killing her.

If Mewo is killed, the Butler will ask if Omori is "waiting for something to happen" when spoken to. He will also inform him that there's always "a way out," mirroring Mewo's advice from the very beginning of the game on how to leave White Space.

Killing Mewo will result in minor changes if on the Omori route; Mewo will be absent when Omori returns to White Space on One Day Left, and will remain so for the rest of the game. On a True route, there will be no changes, as White Space is not revisited in any significant capacity after Two Days Left.

Regardless of his decision, the only way out of this room is for Omori to stab himself.

Trivia

• It was initially possible to open the menu and stab yourself as soon as you entered the room, returning to Black Space before the Butler gave you the key. This softlocked the game as Omori could not open the next Black Space door without the key.
• Mewo does not have to be killed. Omori gains access to the menu and can stab himself as soon as the Butler gives him the key.
• The Punishment Area is the only Black Space room to completely lack Red Hands, as Omori instead leaves by stabbing himself.
