Punishment Area

The Punishment Area, otherwise known as "Cat Dissection", is a room in Black Space. This room is the sixth room the player will enter in Black Space.

Overview

This disconcerting room's most notable feature is an autopsy table. Mewo is strapped to the table, and a Butler watches over her, claiming that Mewo requires punishment for "being very, very bad." If the player talks to the Butler, they will be given a key, and the menu will be enabled, allowing for Omori to stab himself.

Interacting with Mewo on the autopsy table will give the player the option to "cut open" Mewo. Repeatedly choosing 'yes' will slowly result in Mewo growing more panicked over Omori's intentions, until he kills her on the eighth 'yes.'

Stabbing Mewo is completely pointless, only resulting in dry flavor text noting that you cut her open. After her death, the Butler will mirror Mewo's words at the very beginning of the game if talked to, asking Omori if he's "waiting for something to happen," and how there's always one way to leave.

The only way out of this room is for Omori to stab himself.

This room carries the notable distinction of being the only Black Space room that lacks Hands-kun, as Omori stabs himself to leave instead.

Quotes

If the player talks to the Butler:
Butler: "Mewo has been very, very bad."

After the player has successfully sliced Mewo open:
Butler: "Waiting for something to happen?"

Butler: "If you want a way out..."
Butler: "There always is one... but..."

Trivia

• There once existed a bug that would softlock you in Black Space if you decided to stab Omori before acquiring the key.
• There is no obligation to cut open Mewo; Omori gains access to the menu and can stab himself as soon as the butler gives him the key.
• Seven seems to be a reacurring number in Black Space.
